While I am a Utah native, which will make people think I am just another one of the
biased LDS Utah Mormons
that are mentioned in nearly every review, I am not. My family is completely Atheist, so I know everything wrong with my state.

For one, if you are out of state and staying in the dorms, making friends or finding relationships within your dormitory is easy enough if you really attempt to do it. I met my boyfriend in a criminal justice class who lives in the dorms; so, unlike some comments on here imply, finding people who are locals that would actually like you is not difficult. He's made a couple of friends here, additionally.

Now, that being said, Weber State is not a social school. It really is the definition of a

school; over half of the students that attend have jobs. Weber does try to bring in the social aspect, but it doesn't really work. If you're looking for a more traditional dorm experience with an abundance of social life, U of U or Utah State (which, I warn you, is a school more heavily Mormonized than even Weber State is) is probably more of your style.

The Mormon lifestyle does, admittedly, really suck at Weber, but that's just an issue you'll have with most northern-Utah schools, U of U excluded. Despite what they will tell you, Mormons can be very judgmental, and that INCLUDES the professors whose lessons are heavily influenced by the belief system—thankfully, that does not occur frequently. Almost all of the professors I have had have been at LEAST semi-approachable and easy to communicate with. This is a hard school to fail.

If you live in Utah already and just drive everyday, I REALLY recommend that you park at the Dee Events Center and ride the shuttle. Finding W parking spaces at Weber is nearly impossible, depending on the time of day you take classes. It's worth the extra 6 minutes you have to spend on the shuttle, considering I've had friends spend 15+ looking for a space.

My biggest complaint with Weber would be the math department. I've even had department heads from the English and Psych departments tell me how atrocious it is. If you're in developmental math, you spend (mandatory attendance) 50 minutes a week in a class where you teach yourself, thus making the need to GO to a classroom completely pointless. You spend 20+ hours a week on a math class done completely online, with little to no guidance, so finding time for your other classes is very, very hard. All quizzes and tests have to be taken in the Hub, and an additional mandatory 100 minutes a week have to be spent studying in there. The Hub is almost always crowded, and quizzes and tests cannot be taken during your 50 minute class time. The "professors" (they are LITERALLY baby-sitters) are reluctant and hate to help you, as do some of the tutors in the Hub. It's literally the worst math system I've ever heard of.

Math 1050 has (depending on the professor) a 70-80% fail rate; this is a math class required for graduation.

I love Weber, so don't get me wrong. This is just some advice for those going in.
