Originally, I thought this school was great, but as time passed on, I realized how much other people's opinions ran this school. Night life is composed of pregaming in the dorm rooms while getting dressed, grabbing a cab to go downtown, and hanging out at a club until 2 AM when everyone fights for a cab to go back to Winter Park. As someone who doesn't like to get trashed every weekend and as a premed student, this scene wasn't for me. Everyone is very judgmental of the clothes you're wearing, what kind of car you drive, and where your family comes from. Many people don't feel secure walking around campus if they don't look their best for fear of being talked about badly at the lunch table that day. This college feels more like high school than college, besides the excessive drinking and availability of drugs (depending on where you went). Even as someone who graduated in the top 10% of my high school class, I found the science classes very difficult, but there are lots of resources to help students out, like TJ's (the tutoring center) and the professors are very approachable and know you by name. If you don't like to read the material before class or think that because this is college, you can just skip, you're wrong. Most classes have attendance policies and a lot non-major courses will offer a lot of busy work to count as attendance for the day. Some of the professor's are arrogant, just know who's on your side. I thought there would be a lot of undergraduate research, but found that there were no resources for that. Greek life is on a downfall at the moment, as most of the sororities and fraternities are on probation and one sorority was recently kicked out. There is really no sense of school spirit and Greek Life is nothing like it is at big schools. Overall, if you don't want to be part of an arrogant "country club" and would actually like to go to a university as opposed to "high school 2.0," I definitely would recommend anywhere but Rollins.
