I came to Liberty University as a transfer student. When I toured the school they gave off a very different impression than what it is actually like to attend school here. Students are very tightly monitered and don't have much freedom. Liberty tries very hard to impress their extremely conservative values on all of the students. A lot of the staff insists that drinking alcohol (even if you don't get drunk) is a sin. Many of the students here have been very sheltered their whole life and are closed minded. I was already a Christian when I came to school here, but most of these people make me not want to be a Christian! For people who say they are very loving - there sure is a lot of judgement and condemnation of things they are unfamiliar or uncomfortable with. I also had attended a very academically smart university before coming here, and I am so bored out of my mind with the level of academics. I don't even have to study and I get A's. I would LOVE TO TRANSFER OUT OF HERE, but I only have a year and a half of school left so it would cost me more money to transfer. I miss regular college.

commentSo sorry - I'm an employer. I learned to NEVER hire anyone from Liberty. The religious part of their training is so pounded into them, it's difficult to get them to engage in any kind of critical thinking. I work in medicine. I had to fire one Liberty graduate when she WOULD NOT stop trying to talk women out of abortions. We don't do them at our clinic - but if they made that decision to go somewhere and get one, it is NOT for us to try to talk them out of it. I warned the woman several times - ultimately fired her.

I had several similar problems - and now, I'm sorry to say, I just won't hire anyone from Liberty. The "science" program there is absolutely the most ghastly thing I've seen. I wish people would start suing them for the terrible education they get.

I wish you luck - you sound smart. Be ready to offer the information to potential employers that you went to Liberty but you wish you had not and you ARE open minded and open to real science and critical thinking. That's the best advice I can give.

commentI have attended 10 different schools and I found Liberty's MBA program to be one of the most rigorous. In regards to the people attending/have attending, they are probably putting on a facade. I don't know why but Christians act like that in settings, including Church where they pretend to be something they are not. It is a Christian thing…not a Liberty thing. I am a Christian minister so I can see the phony-ness. I don't know they they act like that.

I am also working on a doctorate at another university and my dissertation is on church growth. Research indicates that Christians need to "change" because they are not representing Christ. If they did they would be more loving, kind and emanate God's goodness.
