I went to UNC for 4.5 years and am glad to say it was pretty good. Sure the University has problems but to be honest most of them do. I found the History department to be usually pretty good, especially if you got a good adviser (my first one was useless, but my next two were much better). The Financial Aid department was not the fastest at getting things solved, but they generally didn't give me problems.

My biggest problem was the fact that it is a suitcase college. Most students pack up and go home during the weekends, so campus becomes dead pretty quickly. Most of the events are boring and not really worth while, and Greeley has some things to do, but not much otherwise. It is an older town and thus there is lots of run down neighborhoods but I think the whole crime and violence thing was blown way out of proportion. I never had one problem in UNC crime wise.

The resident halls are hit and miss, and it depends on your hall director and the RAs, as some are very useful and others are useless. My first Director was a huge jerk who liked to bully students around, but the others were nice if not at least pleasant.

I found the classes to be usually pretty good. Most of the professors were awesome, albeit the few bad apples. Some departments are more useful than others, and most of the time unless you got a good adviser you could count on them being either useless or clueless. I recommend checking with fellow students to see who the good advisers are and see if you can sneak into them, because some of the cool ones will see you if they aren't busy.

Overall it was a decent school
