Major: English (This Major's Salary over time)
I'm proud of my degree. I managed to graduate Cum Laude whilst working full-time, raising a family, and self-training in the IT field that would eventually become my career. Had it not been for the helpful staff at the Honors department, I never would have made it to the end. That all being said, I cannot in good conscience recommend UND. The factors against it:1. LocationGrand Forks, ND is not a pleasant place to live. The winters range from bad to horrific, the people are terribly unfriendly (I suspect due to undiagnosed SAD,) and there is quite literally nothing to do in the area. While this was helpful in allowing me to focus on my degree, it made for a stark, barren life while pushing to my undergrad degree.2. No Links to IndustryIt's common knowledge now that careers are made by who you know as well as what you know. While I left UND with excellent communications skills, the school had not provided any links into the industries I intended to enter. Simply put, the place is just too remote to have the kind of links necessary for undergrads to get their "leg up" to succeed.UND is a lovely school. Unfortunately, its location and its lack of direct links to industry make it a tough sell for anyone not already part of the northern culture.
