Georgia State is in the midst of a transformation. Many of these reviews, especially from a few years ago, no longer accurately represent GSU. They have stepped up quality of living on campus, it's very enjoyable. Yes, you have to realize you're in the middle of a city, and yes, homeless people do exist, but it's not worrisome at all. Georgia State is actually in a better part of town than Georgia Tech, and has a better track record than Tech as far as safety. Admission requirements are unfortunately too low for how good the academics actually are (current Univ. Pres. is focused on increasing size, not academic reputation), but if you want to learn, you'll find the honor's program and more rigorous classes to be a good challenge. GSU now plays Div. 1 football in the Georgia Dome, and that's a lot of fun. You do lose some of the care-free college spirit that you get on a campus like GT or UGA, but you do gain real world experience that I think pays off in the end. If it's prestige you want, look else where, GSU's name doesn't make the general public ooh and ahh, but to employers who know their stuff, a degree from GSU means business. (As long as you choose a worthwhile major, of course.)
