Ohlone is exactly what a CC is supposed to be. A dense cluster of tan fort-like Spanish buildings, the campus is in the quintessential suburban upper-middle class neighborhood offering no distractions from schoolwork. Professors are usually competent, with many part-timers with careers in the field they teach. This is a welcome contrast to the aloof researchers at large universities. Students are friendly in general, and 100% are commuters from the surrounding area. Unlike De Anza, Ohlone is almost entirely academic, with students who are down-to-earth and wouldn't show off or display arrogance even if you wanted them to. There are some athletics and ECs on campus, but no one is even going to pretend to be absorbed in them. Overall, Ohlone is for the person who has a life elsewhere, or wants to transfer to a major university. Which in my opinion, is just what a community college is.
