If you're thinking about going to this school, DO NOT DO IT. I started as an undeclared major two years ago and took cores for my first year… Biggest waste of time ever. Their core requirements are a joke and the professors are an even bigger joke. I had 3 professors in my first semester that cancelled class about every other day because they were simply too lazy to come. I had another professor that barely spoke English, and another who was so old that they didn't even understand the subject they were teaching anymore. Even after I declared my major, I still couldn't take all the classes I wanted/needed because they were all at the same time on the same days.

Seriously, folks, this school just wants your money but isn't worth it.

My freshman dorm was about the size of a broom closet, and I had to share it with another person. There wasn't room to breathe. The admissions department literally does NOTHING to help you find a roommate with similar interests as yourself… Mine was literally my exact opposite (she smoked, I didn't. She partied till 3 AM and I had early morning classes, etc.). Sophomore year I had a crumbling single in which half the walls were ripped apart and it was always freezing cold. Don't get me started on the bathrooms, those things were RANK. Ugh. I am now commuting for my Junior year, and the school literally does nothing to cater to me. I have no idea how my life is going to be in the winter because they literally don't care if my car crashes in a snow storm- they WILL NOT cancel school.

As far as faculty goes, you already know what I had to say about the teachers, but I also had lots of run-ins with uber creepy janitors at USM as well. Seriously, they all looked at me like I was meat and I could have sworn I was going to be raped every time I went to the bathroom in my quad. All the other girls on my floor felt the same way. It was horrifying.

On the bright side, if you like raging parties. Tons of people here have a huge reputation. Pretty much everyone here goes clubbing on the weekends and is a strong proponent of "thirsty Thursdays"… Not that I find anything wrong with that, but if you want a serious education and don't want to lie awake listening to dub-step coming from your neighbor's room at 4 AM on a Tuesday, don't stay in the dorms.
