Major: English (This Major's Salary over time)
I did exceptionally well at Grinnell, as a student of color. But many of my friends did not. I found it to be a terribly alienating environment. The worst were the so-called white "liberals" who were so condescending. I hated the most the way they picked on students of color and professors of color all the while pretending that they were politically correct. A real pack mentality there. This place reeks of "privilege," even as it pretends to reject it. People always pat themselves on the back for being "different" and not going to State Schools (as if State School Students are mentally deficient). Many of my friends—people of color—simply had to leave. Slink off. With their tales between their legs. Also, there is way too much drug abuse on this campus. Way too much drug abuse. What bothers me is I have never once smoked or drank anything and yet if a stray bottle was found anywhere near my vicinity, people would like at me with knowing glances. Not cool.
