The school as a whole is welcoming and wants you to feel like part of the Ole Miss family, however, many of the professors seem standoffish and make you feel as though you could never go to their office hours for help. The students here are friendly, you could meet people walking to class, waiting in line for food at the union, at the library, at clubs, or on the square going out.. the possibilities are endless. Many drive cars worth more than most families make in a year but you'd never guess it judging by their demeanor, for a few it's written all over everything about them. The pride at this school is second to none, however being far out of state does make you feel left out on occasion. The social aspect of this school is amazing. Wednesday through Saturday is prime, sunday through tuesday is dead, with good reason. The fraternity parties are very fun and very frequent (multiple frat parties every friday and saturday)The area is safe. The town isnt what i'd consider a southern town to be; it's a college town. The town comes alive with every game day, and everyone loves Ole Miss. One of my professors got a job here simply because he never wanted to leave, he loved it so much. Classes are rigorous. Professors are either really good or really make your life difficult. The campus is huge and walking to class can be a struggle if you live in martin/stockard although those are generally the most desirable dorms.
