WOW. Never did I believe I'd encounter a veteran's review of this college. And never did I imagine it'd be positive. You have a right to think this way, especially if you really are a vet. But… I disagree with every single thing you said. Every one. I'm shocked at the idea that BJU is actually *open minded*, in comparison to OTHER Bible-thumping Jesus freak colleges. So WHAT is it like at the other schools? The suggestion, true or not, that BJU is actually the most open-minded and kind of the Bible colleges is frightening. It is scary. I had a low opinion of the general run of such institutions before, and my research on BJU and interaction with one of its graduates have lowered it further. I disagree intensely that the rules of BJU could by any stretch be called "reasonable". I've read BJU's student conduct handbook for 2016-2017. It is not reasonable. And I doubt very much that I will find many of BJU's rules anywhere I go among America's institutions of higher learning. It's wonderful that BJU worked out well for you but be aware that there is great reason to believe it doesn't work out well for everyone who goes there. BJU is no saintly college. This is the place whose royal family, the Joneses, said Catholics are agents of Satan and threatened to arrest a homosexual graduate if he came back to campus. |

Major: History/Histories (art history/etc.) (This Major's Salary over time)
I came in 2004 and worked 3 semesters.Got out, looked for and got work and eventually joined the Air Force. Was enlisted for 6 years, got out and am now back for the 2013 winter semester on the GI bill.It is definitely a solid Fundamental school and very Baptist in philosophy and day to day dealings. But it is not as strict Baptist as Hyles Anderson, PCC, or The Crown College. Bob Jones actually has a more open minded mentality and staff to Biblical things than most fundamental schools which, I think is good. Prospective students should know that Bob Jones definitely does have a strong set of rules. Rules that are, for the most part, reasonable. Only a few are bothersome but you can honestly find those anywhere you go. But also don't be surprised at how open and friendly most all of the staff and faculty are here. Students who have been to secular institutions have said to me that this place has staff that really care about how you are doing. I really do like the atmosphere here. It is generally very spiritual and pleasant.
