DONT GO TO UMW! I cannot stress this enough. I wish someone told me this before I applied because every tour guide and orientation leader there just lies about how "great" it is because they're getting paid to do so. THIS HAS TO BE THE WORST SCHOOL IN VA. I easily got in, but am seriously struggling academically because NOONE wants to go there so they let everyone in, but in reality it has the academic rigor of UVA. The people are extremely weird and if you're not extremely liberal DO NOT GO TO UMW. I actually got points taken off a paper because I didn't write "liberal enough" EXCUSE ME?! I'm pretty sure you can get fired for that…anyway absolutely NOTHING to do on the weekends, if there happens to be a party that weekend most likely it's either shut down by the cops 30 minutes in or the pig headed frat boys (which isn't even a real frat) decide they just want to party with they're boys… I have never met such rude people and experienced such poor quality in EVERYTHING. You definitely don't get what you pay for. Literally all the money you pay to the school goes to advertising to persuade people to come here because EVERYONE TRANSFERS out. My small group of friends and I are all leaving after our first semester! I would've left after the first week if I could. The food also SUCKS. Everything is awful about this school! I'm not even kidding. The campus is pretty but that's about it. Town sucks, school sucks, people suck, education sucks, housing sucks, school size sucks, Greek life is non existent, in fact Fredericksburg forbids it, along with many other random things. I can't even describe how much I hate UMW. It will depress you like crazy when the only thing to do is study on weekends because there is so much busywork and pointless studying and no way to distress even a little. DO NOT GO TO UMW!!!!!
