I disagree. I wasn't in a fraternity or athlete but I met a lot of fun people and did a lot of drugs and partying. It was a small campus so it was easy to sell drugs and meet people. Mad fun! |

PLEASE do your research on Iona College before coming here. If you're a rich white kid from a small town in upstate NY or Connecticut then you will be sure to like it, but if you're an inner city kid from NYC, as I am, you will definitely hate it! Iona has absolutely no diversity on campus, this is something that they have been trying to change, but because all of the kids are white and pretty much the same, there is little overall interest in expanding awareness of minority groups. If your a minority, this is something to think about. You will definitely feel left out here. The clubs are very boring, for the most part. If you aren't an athlete or in a fraternity or sorority, you are a second thought and social life is just nonexistent. Most parties are invite only and all of them get raided by the police. Social life is pretty much non existent here, unless you kiss ass to the right people. This school is extremely clique-ish. No one is really interested in networking and making valuable connections, as you should in college. Many people are closed minded and arrogant, especially the athletes. People still have petty highschool drama; its ridiculous to watch. Also, many of the kids here are not interested in their education, many come to class and sit on their cell phones the entire time, which I find absolutely disrespectful. There is no incentive to do well here, no one cares. If you're looking for an environment where people will push you to do well and succeed, then Iona is definitely not for you. Of course there are people who care, but the overall educational atmosphere is lacking. One thing, however, is that Iona has an extraordinary Career Development Center. They host a variety of workshops throughout the year to help student get a jump start at their professional development, which is great. That's really the only good thing I have to say about this placeLike everything else in life, Iona is truly what you make of it, but before you waste your time and money coming here, truly evaluate what it is that you want out of college. If you want the ideal college experiences that you see on TV or a challenging curriculum where you will actually learn something valuable, then reevaluate your college choices.
