Major: Public Health (This Major's Salary over time)
I left Walden after 15 months because I felt the quality of the PhD in public health program is very poor. Yes, I got good grades, but I didn't feel I was learning anything. All we did was busy work, papers and discussions that were repetitive. It got to the point where I could reuse a lot of assignments and discussions I did for previous classes. But we shouldn't have to pay all that money just to do the same work over and over. And I had 2 really bad teachers in the past 2 quarters. Tuyen Nguyen in my research class wasn't even reading the assignments we submitted. He had them graded before the end of the week. How could he read 20 papers in a few hours and have them all graded? I had a lot of trouble contacting academic advising and think there is poor support for students all around. Plus, Walden is not very respected in public health. A PhD from Walden is considered equal to a MPH, so the degree isn't worth the paper it is printed on. I made a huge mistake choosing this school. I wasted several months and lots of money. I am in the process of applying to a real school to first get my MPH and then after I complete that, I will get my PhD in health sciences. In the end I want to feel that I accomplished something important and not just jumped through some hoops and paid a lot of money for a worthless degree. I want to be proud of the school I attend and the work I do. I could never be proud of Walden.
