Juniata College is typically referred to as a "bubble." To me, this means that it is a special environment which can't be found in most places. I find this to be a good thing under the circumstances because going to school can be stressful without a supportive community. In this way, Juniata College is like many other small liberal arts schools. The students and staff all know each other and have time to form in-depth relationships over four years. Also, for such a small school, it has a good range of students from different states and even different countries. I have met several students from Pakistan, Nigeria, Japan, Morocco, and other places, which was beneficial to me, since I'm interested in international relations. Another advantage lies in the fact that professors will find students to groom for challenges, like research projects, symposiums, study abroad, and other academic extracurricular activities which challenge students through experiential learning. After four years at Juniata, I'm ready to move on to the next step, but I also have a hard time imagining attending school anywhere else.
