I don't recommend this place. The administration is very controlling and does not care about students. They talk themselves up so well during the audition period and orientation, but it does not take long to see that it is all an act. Any time a concern is offered, the administration just responds with rudeness and they refuse to listen to whatever they do not want to hear. It is no wonder that the faculty chose to unionize because they had similar problems with the administration. Longy is basically a huge state university disguised as a small conservatory.A lot of the classes are silly and touchy-feely, such as the course Your Personal Best and the EEP program. There is no real learning going on and just amounts to pointless busy work. The chamber program is also horrid and nobody seemed to have any motivation to make it better. Pretty sad since Longy promotes itself as a chamber school.
