My SAT was 2250 - the system only allows up to 1600. I am not smart - just work hard. I went to another college (UVA) for a year but lack of funds require me to live at home - so I transferred to Mason. The "fun" part of education is fundamental is way overrated - so I don't know why GMU is pushing it. I guess it is when you mention you are at Mason - everyone says "that is no fun". Well they are right - so what? GMU's constant babble about a long gone 2006 basketball team's successes or how the students are heading to DC for entertainment (over an hour commute) has got to stop. This does not convince anyone that Mason is fun. College is stupid expensive - everywhere- GMU is marginally less expensive than other Virginia public universities but a real bargain if you can commute from home. The academics are highly regarded. (BTW - the same "everyone" that GMU has zero social life say they heard Mason is a great school, academically - again - from what I researched and have experienced - they are right).Way too many rules and controls. If you really want college to be more enjoyable - relax and let go a little - we are BIG people we can figure it out on our own without hurting ourselves - too badly. What is it with the diversity thing? Yes - Mason is diverse - anyone can see that - duh - why does it have to be announced constantly. Let it happen naturally - it will be much better (or should we start mandatory busing again?).SUMMARY:GOOD STUFF:Mason has solid academic credentials and reputation - It is located on an idyllic campus setting - it is marginally less expensive than other public schools - the staff is very friendly and very helpful.BAD STUFF:GMU has too many rules and regulations and is no fun - - GMU is way too far from Washington DC to really be of any help socially - GMU has no football (neither did UVA) and it has a lousy basketball team (come on - admit it - the guys from 2006 are all long gone) - parking is a challenge - campus is dead on the weekends - diversity is overrated.Got to go study - the end.
