Major: Chemistry (This Major's Salary over time)
While perhaps once an excellent department, Berkeley's Chemistry department is going down hill. This is likely due to 1) a lack of leadership and 2) poor hiring choices of assistant faculty. The chemistry department has substantial issues with funding, and even getting a pay check on time can be tricky. Overall infrastructure is poor and is reflected in the organization and quality of undergraduate courses. I don't feel the trend is currently irreversible, but the department is quickly becoming outdated.
