Do NOT go to BJU to study for the ministry unless you have strong networking contacts (relatives, friends) in positions of hiring influence. There are far more churches that will NOT hire you because of your BJU diploma than will hire you. Hiring authorities that I contacted would not talk to me any further once they learned my degree was from BJU (common reason given was that BJU graduates were too divisive and BJU too extremist). Graduates I knew who had business related degrees fared better than the ministry degree graduates that I knew. I also knew several graduates with teaching degrees who had difficulties because back when I graduated, BJU was unaccredited and proud of it (consequences to the graduates be damned). Fortunately a few years ago BJU broke with the founder's admonishments and sought accreditation. Too late for me, but good for the current students.

BJU's only real purpose is to train legalistic preachers, lawyers, and politicians. Its famous alumni have never really been much of anything else. The only "successful" BJU grad I ever met- the only BJU grad I ever met- got his job through strong BJU contacts and got a career set up for himself in a "Christian" radio and communications business that BJU is connected to. Point is, he never, ever has had to actually go out and get a job. You know, like a real person does. And YES, I agree that many more churches won't want a BJU grad than will. BJU is a very deviant Bible college. Their brand of Christianity is pretty extreme and uncompromising. The number of Christian churches that really are in agreement with them is low these days. Having met one spectacularly mean-spirited and petty BJU grad, I can tell you that I very much have come to view BJU as too divisive and extremist. Those two words are their hallmarks. I actually spoke to someone at VCU's graduate school, and she said that Bob Jones University has a "reputation" and VCU grad school admissions staff are pretty wary of BJU students. I heard that BJU was indeed unaccredited and proud of it for many long decades, and you put it very well, "consequences to the graduates be damned". They finally gave up and got regional accreditation for 2016, but it does not benefit any prior graduates- they are still holding unaccredited degrees. It does not appear that obtaining regional accreditation has actually changed anything at BJU, however. I wonder if they still teach evolution as a lie, namely in their biology degrees. I would amend your thoughtful commentary at the opening, however. If it was me, I'd say, simply, do NOT go to BJU at all. There is literally nothing at that college that couldn't be found elsewhere at a better school. The people who will go there and enjoy it are the people who founded a fake college called Bob Jones in the first place- extremist, right-wing Christians who hate pretty much everyone who isn't part of their so-called "faith".
