Major: Economics (This Major's Salary over time)
I just graduated, and I hated going there. It's ranked #34 in the country right now, and the programs are very rigorous. But, there was no social scene at all. None, except for an occasional frat party that gets broken up at midnight. It wasn't anything you would expect a college environment to be.If you compare with Boston College, which is #33, it's very well known for sports and drinking, to say the least. It's one rank above Brandeis. They do the same work, more or less, but they still have time to party and develop basic social skills. The Brandeis - Harvard inferiority complex is very, very real, so students, at Brandeis, spend all their time studying difficult topics sitting in the library all day. But, if you try to hold a normal conversation with them, about something that isn't academic, they are usually completely lost.I just have the overall impression that Brandeis students try to reach above their natural capacity, they can't really learn the kind of material they want to learn, without sacrificing something else. It's the same with the administration, too… Brandeis isn't prestigious enough to get away with bringing in someone like Hirsi Ali, who works at Harvard… Basically, just stay far, far away from this stupid bullshit.
