Visit the campus before you attend. Shaw has almost no facilities. The gym is small, there's no football field, and the workout room is only for athletes. There's a lot of people at Shaw who aren't there for the right reasons, therefore it's very easy to get distracted. The school isn't dangerous at all. Like any other school it has it's occasional fights, but there's no general violence.

For fun there's often events and functions on campus. Most of the time hardly anybody goes because they're uninterested. The boys play basketball a lot, girls watch. Shaw hardly ever has any parties on campus. But the club scene is popular. Every Thursday different clubs have parties that are promoted on campus and they send a shuttle bus to take you to an from. Often times there are kids from a lot of different schools. Clubs are fun, but it gets repetitive.The dorms are horrible. Honestly. The relationships you make with people on your hall are cool. But as far as living condition, it sucks. The bathrooms are disgusting and old and it's not like the residents help, they are just as nasty. The rooms are small and if you don't keep your room clean they will fine you. Cleaning staff doesn't come on weekends, and it gets really nasty. As far as visitation goes.. They pick and choose when they want to give it to you. My whole first semester we never had visitation and it sucked. Second semester we got it like 5 times, and its only on Fri & Sat from 7-11. Overall the dorms definitely need to be renovated because they look very old and tired.
