The UConn program is extremely competitive to get into for a reason. It's a fantastic experience. You learn theory, conduct assessment, AND work in the field. Make no mistake - you WILL work hard for the two years you are here. It will be worth it. You'll grow as a person, realize that you can do things you didn't think possible before, and you'll gain the confidence needed to work with students during their darkest hours. The faculty and site supervisors truly care about the program. HESA students are known throughout campus as being hardworking and bright and creating great opportunities for undergraduate students on campus. The cohort system isn't for everyone. When I was applying to schools, I really wanted a cohort to have a network of people. Unfortunately, I didn't click with the other people in my year. That didn't diminish my experience, however. I made friends elsewhere because UConn is a friendly place. I have no doubt that when I graduate, I will find a job. After all, there's a 100% placement rate.
