Montserrat College of Art has disappointed me in numerous ways. I had planned on transferring at one point, and the school roped me back in, only to get rid of my program of study for unjust reasons and in a shockingly unprofessional way a few months later. Do not trust housing or admissions, because they chalk things up to way more than they actually ever are…I currently live off-campus and was told that the school tried to buy my apartment from my landlord, all the while knowing that I live here and would lose my home if that deal had been made. It's quite obvious that the school is so money-hungry at this point, they'll accept anyone and everyone who applies and risk losing some of their most passionate students just to save a little cash. And honestly, don't expect to be taken seriously by administration at all if you have complaints about this. Admissions have also lied to me about multiple things upon visiting and applying to the school; I have heard from plenty of past and current students that this is quite common and that admissions will fudge things just to get more students to apply. DO NOT go here if you are looking for a place to get away from high school mentality, because the school is very small and people act pretty much the same all the way through senior year. In my three completed years here, I feel as if I haven't gained anything with the exception of the skills I've acquired while working with faculty that has already left Montserrat for good because of how poorly they were treated. Oh, and let's not forget the Resident Assistant program! RAs here are borderline police. Thinking of having a friend over from a few states over and they have nowhere to stay? Too bad, you're not allowed to have anyone stay past midnight for more than three days in a row. This goes out to all of you with long-distance relationships /or friendships: don't bother, because the school doesn't care and RAs will write you up. I've also heard cases of the school hunting down students who are of legal age to drink on social media just to go out of their way and get them in trouble, so make sure everything you post is private. This school has screwed so many of its students over, I'm not sure why it's still getting any type of business.
