As a commuting student, I can't speak to the quality of the residence halls. The campus itself is a patchwork, and a work in progress. Newer buildings are nice, older ones not so much. It is what it is, a campus that has gradually developed over many decades. The professors are great, for the most part. A few are unorganized, but they acknowledge their oversights and adjust accordingly. Most are genuinely caring and motivated to help students succeed. But here's the thing…I have never seen a school where so many students walk into class 15, 20, 30 minutes late on a daily, and then some of them speak out and act as if the professor isn't catching them up properly. The professors never say a word to these habitually late and unprepared students, either. That can be annoying. Yes, many of the faculty are from foreign countries, but most do know the English language well. Some just have thicker accents than others. The bottom line about Fayetteville State is this: school is what you make it. Most students are cool, but you may have to speak to them first. If you want to be involved, you can be. If you want to get an education and take advantage of opportunites, you can do that as well. You can't be lazy and expect to be spoonfed. If you want intellectual stimulation, your professor will be encouraged and refreshed by this, and most will go out of their way to be helpful. One final thought: I wouldn't recommend loading up with online classes. Online classes are the pits, discussion board assignments are the pits, and most of those courses are unorganized and sometimes confusing. You will get much more out of an "in-person" lecture, and most importantly, you will develop relationships with students and faculty that can and will enhance you life in college and beyond. There is nothing wrong with Fayetteville State University that can't be overcome with the proper attitude.
