You pay 10,000 dollars a year for an education that almost everyone else on campus takes for granted. Akron has expanded it's acceptance to anyone having an IQ higher than a plant. They spend tremendous amounts of money on buildings that no student can afford to live in, or would want to live in given the shady downtown location. Robberies on campus occur often. There are lots of unneeded hoops to jump through due to "mandatory" online and on-campus training, most of which isn't about important things such as financial aid or your classes. Orientation, even if you are not new to college (transfer) is mandatory, and you will not be permitted to enroll in classes if you do not attend and spend six hours being walked around and sitting through lengthily, ultimately pointless seminars. Class scheduling is a joke; even for 10,000+ students, there is almost no flexible scheduling available, and advisors are pushy as well as rude to transfer students (trying to say that classes that lawfully should transfer, won't). A lot of mandatory orientation and online focuses more on being safe during parties and social events, which honestly any person should know by the time they are 15… most kids I know start drinking and getting involved with drugs far before they reach a college campus. Akron is hardly an exception. Social life by campus in the city is almost nothing but the bar scene. There is hardly anything else to do in the city, if anything. Though frankly, that shouldn't be your main concern at college, anyway. All in all, I went to community college for the past two years and felt that my money was better spent there than at Akron. 10,000 dollars a year is a very steep price for a college that only has a 12% four-year graduation rate, and even worse considering that the six-year grad rate is only 18%. Pathetic. Up your standards and stop making college just a business! BE GENUINE FOR ONCE.

commentI agree with you. I feel that there are many improvements that Akron could make, but they aren't willing to go through with them. There are many logistical inconveniences that cause the university to go down hill.
responseRobberies do happen, but they normally do not occur on campus. Please be careful what you post, smashing a school that you attend and are receiving an education from is not the smartest thing to do. If you don't like it then leave, no one is keeping you there. You probably have one of the most biased reviews on this page.
responseTo responder 1, she probably has the most honest review on this page. Does U of A pay you by the post or by the hour?
