How is the program? Are classes and clinical everyday? Are you able to work |
Major: Nursing (This Major's Salary over time)
I am currently in my fourth year at Gwynedd Mercy University, and the only reason why I do not regret going here is because of the nursing education I have received. Gwynedd Mercy's nursing program has a wonderful faculty & staff, all of whom will do anything to see you succeed. They challenge you to think critically, as well as pass on their knowledge so that they produce the best nurses possible. This program isn't for the faint of heart, because you will study a lot. It's worth it though. One thing I particularly liked is that we started clinical within the first month of beginning the program, so you know if nursing will or will not be for you. Overall, I believe this program prepared me to pass the NCLEX in 75 Q, which is what your goal is ultimately. Now for the reasons why I do not recommend attending this University. Although the campus is small yet beautiful, it is dreadfully boring. I feel as though it is a waste of money to live on campus, because a lot of people go home on the weekends. There are barely any student activities or services to foster a social life. If you do not have a car, you will be stuck on a campus where everything is closed on the weekends. The cafe has limited hours, especially on the weekends, and there have been nights where I have had late classes and had to go back to my dorm and eat. In my opinion, the food is horrible, even though the staff is so friendly! The staff is the only bright side of the dining services. One thing I also do not like is that Gwynedd Mercy falsely advertises their services for their open houses to the extreme. They put on this big show when the potential students come for tours, so I recommend a private tour to see what the school is really like. Sometimes I dread coming back to campus after the weekends, even though I can say the dorms are nicer than some other schools. Basically, if you're looking for the typical college experience, this isn't the school for you. I honestly recommend coming here only for the nursing program, as well as commuting to save yourself the extra expenses.
