I'm confused. Is this a review of University of Maryland Baltimore County, also known as UMBC (in Catonsville, MD), or the University of Baltimore, (UB),in Baltimore City? I'm familiar with both and frankly, it seems to be a review of the University of Baltimore which was erroneously placed in the UMBC section. Please explain, thanks. |
Regardless if he's talking about either school, he's actually still right :/ UMBC is a nightmare. |

I came to UB after attending a decent state school in another state. I am a military spouse and we had been stationed in an area that required I take a break from getting my degree until we were stationed in MD. We received orders that required us to move in less than a month so I was not able to apply to better schools immediately so I applied to UB as soon as we moved because most colleges within driving distance were no longer taking applications for the upcoming school year (darn July move). I am shocked at how horrible UB really is. It is like a 4 year community college. Online courses with discussion forums illustrate that many people cannot write legible English and do not understand simple instructions. Classes on campus are very limited and many are late at night, which should be avoided as there are many robberies (some armed) around campus at night. Teachers are okay but expectations are very low and not challenging to intelligent students. If you are not in the law or business schools you are in run down buildings- broken toilets and roaches are not uncommon. This is fine as a transitory school but if you are highly intelligent or hoping to do more than work at the Social Security office (many classes are oriented on such work), GO ELSEWHERE!!!
