Major: Undecided (This Major's Salary over time)
Here's the thing about Dickinson College:The academics here are amazing. That's why I came to this school. The reputation is great, and the professors really want you to learn and succeed. That being said, Dickinson College has some major issues, which is why I'm transferring next semester. The Students/Social life: This is the biggest issue. It's a small school, only 2,300 students, so naturally it's very cliquey, students usually don't socialize outside their group of friends. Most students are arrogant, close-minded, rude and unfriendly. Keep in mind that this school is very preppy, and it's pretty hard for a middle-grounder to fit in. If you're not on a sports team or in frat/sorority, parties may be hard to come by. Just know what kind of people you want to be surrounded by for the next 4 years of your life. The town of carlisle is just awful. Drugs run rampant through the town, and walking off campus at night in some areas is not a good idea. Crime exists off campus, but DPS does a good job at keeping students safe. There is really nothing to do in Carlisle besides the 3 good restaurants, 2 bars and a Walmart. It?s in the middle of nowhere. The locals (students refer to them as "townies") do not like students, and are somewhat hostile towards us. This place truly feels like High School part 2. Just know this if your looking to come here; attend a class, and walk around campus to see the students and what it's actually like. Don't be fooled by the nice campus and academics and what ever else the student guide is telling you. College isn't just about education, it's an experience that helps you grows as an adult and a student. Dickinson College is not a good environment to do that. Try to see yourself here, if you can?t, don?t bother applying. Bottom Line: If you're a preppy private school kid with the money to go here, like to get wasted on the weekends, and have the ego the size of an equator, come to Dickinson! If you want a real college experience where you'll have more fun, and make great friends in a better learning environment, look elsewhere.
