Major: Biology (This Major's Salary over time)
UCD was a horrible life experience for me. My advisor was rude and condescending from the start. I did have a few good professors. I did enjoy my Bio 2 class and the Econ courses I took. This is a very large school where you are a number. They do a really great job of forgetting who is the paying customer. UCD is a commuter school that is trying REALLY hard to be a traditional university. They don't understand that as a commuter school most of their students work so they should probably offer some flexibility in advisor's schedules (morning or evening appointments) and again they should offer more evening or online classes. I started out with a different major but ended up taking a lot of Econ classes because they were offered online or on the weekend. When I complained to my advisor about the course scheduling and the difficulty with having to take a day off work to see him he essentially told me I should quit my job and go to school full time if my education was important to me. Sadly for some students that just isn't an option. I work to pay for my education and help support my family. I've always worked through out my education, because I didn't want to have tens of thousands of dollars of student loan debt. Dear UCD you are a commuter school. Accept that fact. Embrace it! You could be a model of a state school that works to accommodate a diverse mix of traditional and non traditional students on an urban campus. Offer more evening classes! I left for another area school that does offer night classes. Besides my complaints here are some pros and consPros:Cheaper than CU BoulderAwesome urban campus. Minutes from Denver social life.Close to the mountains (Hour to two)Some great professorsCons:Really arrogant administrationCommuter school that doesn't understand its a commuter schoolNot much social life on campus (but not that hard to find it off campus)Some class rooms look dated. They are renovating and building new class rooms.Everything else I would say is rather average.
