Ole Miss has an abnormally high number of students in the Greek system - and the Greek system and their money influence everything here. If you are in the "right" frat or sorority, you can get away with a lot. If you are not a student who is in a fraternity or sorority, good luck, as you will need it. If you are an out of state student, even more luck is needed as they do NOT like out of state students, the professors have been great, but it have seen some of the most unjust things done to out of state or non-Greek students. I happen to have joined a sorority here, but I have many friends who did not and the disparity between how the Dean's office will treat a student for a minor infraction is outrageous, Also the school security is non-existent at night. A friend of mine was beaten up by a group of punks one night coming home from Biology Lab. It has been a rude awakening. I would not recommend this school to others unless they plan to "go GREEK" as you will feel (and be treated) like an outsider. Sadly, many of my freshman year friends ended up transferring to other universities because of this cold reality. It is a beautiful campus, but a lot of "ugly" goes on behind the scenes,
