Decided to come here because I got a partial scholarship. Nice campus, small classes, cool nightlife nearby, okay dorms, buildings smell old and full of mold. We are all pretty chill at this school student wise, you'll find your click. However, as far as college education goes, this place is garbage! I was at a community college before, and it was way better organized than this place. The majority of the teaching staff here has power trips, and are not here for the student's they just want their number's to look good. Don't get me wrong some teacher's are amazing here, but those are far and few in between. Everything is so disorganized. The smaller class sizes are a plus, but the teacher's are restricted to the way they want to teach, and grade their own classes. Some teacher's are completely awesome and really want to help. Other's are burnt out, rude and unfair and it shows. Low student moral, and no support from teacher's for student success makes for depressed students, and their are plenty of them. Be aware they change their school policy on passing classes often without any warning to students. Don't get me wrong they follow the year you entered catalogs year rules, but they are tricky and change things within the rules. They change the syllabus verbally and it's not written in, isn't that against the law? I knew a guy who's parent's hired a lawyer, they messed up his grades and credits so bad. Most teachers feel like they could just do what ever they want. The turnover of teacher's here are high, and in my opinion, all the good ones leave because they know better than to deal with this disorganization, so good student's leave as well.

Case in point, the math department changed it's grading curriculum this semester, but for the worst. They made the final computer based, and only if you passed with a C in the final, could you pass the course. I know student's who showed up, worked hard, did all their homework, got good tests scores carried A's, B's, put in extra effort, and failed because of the final, but yet student's that never went to class, never did homework, cheated on quizzes and test's, but scored well on the final passed? Shouldn't everything be taken into account not just one test? One girl even dropped, when the professor said she couldn't make up homework, another student (male) in the same position was allowed to make it up. Wow, is right… It's not even a graded college class, it's algebra review. The head math chair is on some power trip, she accuses people of cheating when their not, and it was in the hallway in front of other student's! Shouldn't that be done in private regardless? Shouldn't we all be treated like adults? What about privacy? She also restrict's other teachers from doing things their way, grading, testing, etc. This was a known thing all over campus this semester and a lot of student's agree on this what a horrible math department. Even though we are young, we know when things aren't fair. The school needs to invest in their students like the way we are investing in the teacher for our education. This is my last semester here, I'm transferring to a different college in the spring. I hope they improve things or else they won't be able to retain any staff, or student's.

Hi, I was looking at attending this school. I already sent my transcripts in. Are you leaving the school because of things that took place this semester only or has it been ongoing? When I visited campus and spoke with other student's they stated similar problems. 2 student's said they are leaving because of the poor support from the math department because the main lady is mean. I should start looking into a different school.
My best advice to you is look into a real school where people care about you as a person and not as a number for their gains. make sure that school has no BS games like this school. This school was the biggest mistake of my life. My next step is to contact WASC to let them know what's foolishness is being done around here.
