OK, the only thing I've liked about this school is a few people, a few classes, and the campus. Other than that, if you're prepared to feel like you're wasting your time in droning lectures, overpay for crappy sickening food, be prepared to deal with close-minded people who are very self-oriented, and a constant cloud of weed smoke following you everywhere then have fun in Santa Cruz. This school has turned to a hub for self-centered partiers and condescending hall mates who continually make stereotyping remarks even when you've expressed distaste towards them. What's more? only a few departments are genuinely interested in helping you, and to them I am very grateful and they are only a few of the things that keep me from transferring (mostly because I don't want to go through the application process again). Don't expect to ever know what's going on with your finances, I got a hold put on my account 3 days before christmas over 100 dollars I owed for "Service use" whatever the hell that is? anyway, I am now locked out of enrolling for classes and there is no one to contact because guess what, they don't have an email address, and oh yeah it's christmas. In addition the financial aid office wouldn't give me aid until 3 months into the quarter, after I had to speak to their manager for 2 hours after waiting on the phone for 20 minutes because guess what, they don't have an email either, or a phone that goes through more than 20 percent of the time, or an office that you can walk into (there's always at least a 2 hour line). That's inaccessibility, and it's frustrating. What I'm trying to say is that it doesn't feel like people care about individuals at this school. If you want to be treated like you don't have your own thoughts, emotions, morals, family, friends, history, goals, accomplishments, failures, etc. Then go to Santa Cruz. If you want to be recognized as an individual who is trying to learn and carry their knowledge on to others or to a career, then for the love of cheese go somewhere else.
