As an Alum, who loved Iona - and all the time I spent on-campus, I wanted to give back, so recently, I decided to take a walk down memory lane, with a blank check in my hand. When I was attending Iona, the Motto was "The Proof Is In The People", now, it's "Move The World".

While walking around campus recently, I first stopped by McSpedon Hall, and it was all redone, and to me, it was so unwelcoming - and most likely, it cost Iona a fortune to update. All the doors were dark wood, with no windows, and it was so cold and unwelcoming. Honestly, I couldn't believe it - when I used to walk in McSpedon, everyone was so friendly and helpful - now it looks like a hospital ward, and there is no-one around to greet you. I wasn't impressed - I didn't see anyone "Moving The World" behind their closed doors. I agree with the comments I recently read on this board.

The Libraries, were updated and new - and beautiful - but I started to ask questions, and I did a little research. I learned that so many Adjuncts are being hired, and Iona doesn't pay their Adjunts fairly for the ecuational background they require. There is a very high employee/staff turnover rate at Iona College. It appears Iona is looking for a short-term fix, and that won't enhance the retention, graduation, and job hiring rates for Iona's students and Alums.

I remained anonymous, while touring myself around, and I was dismayed at the lack of welcoming, concern, and enthusiasm in various departments. Most everyone was behind closed doors. Me personnally, I wouldn't give a dime of my hard earned money until the

Proof is Back in the People at Iona.
It was a very sad day for me.

I left saying I wouldn't recommend that you even apply to Iona. I also heard that some of the core classes are over-crowded. If you hire Adjuncts, they teach and leave, where is the quality education for the students, and why should parents pay excessive and overpriced tuition rates -so higher administrators can get paid their very high salaries.

I decided to look at all the Regional College Rankings. When I was growing up, if you didn't attend Iona, it was Manhattan or Fordham. Take a look at all the rankings - Iona's ranking is going lower, and after visiting Iona, I had the chance to experience first-hand why Iona's ranking, amongst its peers, is so low, and it won't go higher - until Iona's primary concern is the students - Iona's customers, and secondly, all Iona's employees. Customers and Employees need to be 100 percent satisfied, for a business to run smoothly.

Until major changes are made, at least in my opinion, Iona won't be "Moving The World" - the Administrators don't even Open Their Doors - successful businesses open their doors to their customers and staff. I left with the feeling, that the customers being students, and staff members, are not a priority at Iona, and that quality education for students isn't the Administrators' main concern.

I left with my blank check. I'll donate money to a worthy cause. Until I see some positive changes, if I have a chance to visit again, my money will go elsewhere. It was a very sad day for me.

Anyway, that's my honest opinion, but please make sure, you do extensive research and homework on the entire college. You need to look inside the book, front to back, before you judge.

I hope, maybe one day soon,

The Proof Will Be in The Administrators
again at Iona College. It sure wasn't the Iona I remembered.
