Regret coming here over Yale and MIT and USC.

Student body is the worst, and you are not treated as a person but just a number (over 30,000 students, obviously I should have realized this).

If you are studying engineering, go anywhere that is ABET credited. The programs are the same and the notion that Berkeley is top for engineering only applies to graduate school.

commentBerkeley has the prestige, especially in China. You should be happy to attend the prestige school!

Rows=6 cols=34I deeply regret having wasted 4 years at UCB.
Ghost professors, over reliance on adjuncts who are not fluent in English and don't for the most part care about doing a good job, run down campus, noisy shabby over utilized underfunded libraries, and the campus sandwiched between two of the most violent and dangerous cities in California. All topped off with competing with the best students from around the world, all graded on a steep curve. It is swim on your own or get dragged under, don;t look for help or tutoring, it ain't there unless you belong to a minority group. The undergrad classes feel like stockyards, some of the weeder classes have over 1000 students in them. Don't expect any letters of recommendation, you are just one body out of thousands,

The social scene is meager for anyone who is cis normal. Southside is just plain dirty and nasty, but Northside is beyond the reach of most student budgets, if you have enough money to afford to live on Northside, you can afford to go to a much nicer college or university. Oh, and then there are the piles of excrement around "People's Park".
Finally if you fail at Berkeley you have pretty much ruined your chances of getting into another college at a later time .
Pick a college with a safe campus, small classes, a commitment to hiring English fluent instructors. wrap=virtual
