Thanks for the review, it was helpful. What housing do you recommend? |
Hi there! I am transferring from WPUNJ and have never lived outside of the tristate area. I am very nervous because as a transfer, I'm not sure how I will make friends. Also, I heard that this school was not very diverse. I am worried that I will regret transferring and am very scared. |
Major: Civil Engineering (This Major's Salary over time)
Don't listen to these other reviews on here. If you're reading this just read mine and don't bother going through the list. UMD has been the best experience of my life. I came here from Wisconsin with not one friend expecting to be a loner, and one of the first things I noticed is how friendly people here are. All these other reviews are just people who have some kind of grudge or hate at the school because they didn't do college correctly. People saying that the people here are not academic are false. Almost everyone tries to do their best here, yes there are a select number that don't care but they eventually get weeded out. This school is not for the people writing the other reviews. AKA it's not meant for people who come here looking for a major in Sociology or some bogus major and take liberal eds all their years. Then complain how classes aren't competitive enough. Being in the engineering school I have found it is actually quite challenging, but it's easy to make friends and work as a team to get through the rough patches in class. THERE IS SO MUCH TO DO HERE ITS UNREAL. From intramurals to clubs to watching movies in lecture halls. Not to mention it's the number one outdoor city in America… Also there are plenty of parties and drinking if you're into that. This school is a great all around place to be, if you act like yourself and don't be stuck up you'll have a great experience. Don't be the people in the other reviews… Don't keep to yourself and do bad in school and then blame it on the faculty and student body for your poor experience. It's up to you to make it great and Duluth has all the potential to make it a fantastic college life. Contact me for any questions, if you're even a little curious do it cause I want people to know how much fun it is to come here!
