This review is for Rowan University. It's not under that category because the drop down list just has a large blank space under it. I cannot recommend that anyone attend Rowan. Things were going fine until my very last semester. Okay, they weren't perfect (as I'll talk about further down), but my financial situation made it difficult to switch schools and it was just this side of bearable. Had I known what would happen in my last semester, I never would have picked Rowan to begin with. I was put in a class where the teacher was horrible. She gave conflicting advice, arranged but then missed meetings, played favorites, etc. When asked for help, she would reply that it wasn't her job to help. My classmates felt the same way I did but I was the only one who took it to the Assistant Dean. Once a meeting took place, she lied about what she did and said. The A.D was eager to chalk it up to a miscommunication. I had to withdraw from her course and its co-requisites. I later found out from Rate My Professor and from other students that I wasn't the first one to have the problem with her. The bad reviews date back several years. She is retiring soon, only a semester after I took the matter up with the A.D, which leads me to believe they are finally pushing her into retirement. This is great, but doesn't help me. No one from Rowan has ever reached out to apologize for having such an inadequate employee nor for failing to help me deal with her. The Registrar was no better. On withdrawing from the courses they made it extremely difficult, failing to mention crucial information until near the due dates. Recently, I had to reach out to them about a problem with my transcript and they were equally unhelpful, claiming that nothing could be done (despite the fact someone from the Department concerned informed me that the problem could be fixed). Their response was, not only unhelpful, but rude, claiming that the problem was my responsibility, not theirs. With so much rudeness and unhelpfulness in positions of power within the University, I can only conclude that either those in charge were intentionally unhelpful to cover up their mistakes and in retaliation for me calling them out on them, or Rowan is too much of an institution to care about its students. In addition, the other professors are hit or miss in terms of skill at their subject. While most seem very intelligent or at the very least knowledgeable, only half are good at conveying the information. Some are difficult to reach and very vague in instructions. Thankfully I believe that the level of incompetency I experienced in the one Professor is rare, but there's still no guarantee that you're going to get a decent professor unless you're lucky enough to have the professor listed when registering for courses and are able to check their ratings (again a 50/50 chance). The food is decent. However there's not a huge amount of variety. The Market Place is your best bet, as it's basically a buffet. Often, though, you don't know what they're serving until you get in. They used to have a menu online but it's now a broken link most of the time. They have menus on the door but usually there're at least a few inaccuracies, so if you paid thinking they had one thing and it turns out they don't, you're screwed. It's still good food and you can find something, just not always what you wanted (and, really, why would you want to pay for food you didn't want?) Most of the other places only serve variants of different sandwiches and salads. Poblano's isn't bad; they serve tex-mex. But anything you can get in different places is served in the Market Place or somewhere else on campus. It would be nice to bring in something different. The Student Center usually has something going on. A movie at least once a week and cool little fairs. The Rec Center's and the Library's huge. Lots of options for jocks. Other than that, though, you're kind of on your own for things to do and, unless you have a car to go to Deptford, you're stuck in Glassboro which is mostly just a bunch of food places. Not the least exciting campus but definitely no the best.Rowan internet sucks. It's always up and down. The Rowan site needs editing. It's full of broken links and inaccurate contact information. Emails don't always send and sometimes you'll think it does but then get a failed delivery notification a week later. Blackboard and other systems are always having technical difficulties.Overall, while the information itself is good, you only have a 50% chance of getting a decent professor to convey the information. Those in charge are rude and unhelpful. Campus life is so-so, as is food. If you choose to attend, I hope you have a backup wifi system.
