My background at Parkside- I was a student leader for 4 years, student for 5.

Bads- Everyone is so entitled and petty. It is literally worse than high school. Instead of worrying about excelling yourself or actually making something of your life, students are worried about who to sleep with, what drugs to take, spreading rumors about each other, and staying as long as possible because they don't want to face the real world. Diversity is a joke-yes Parkside is diverse, but it's not taking pride in cultures other than Asian History and Worldfest. For the most part, it's just loud, rude high school grads that came to Parkside because college is the thing to do, not because they actually want to take pride in a school. There is literally NO pride unless it's forced by admin. Everything is outdated—the library is smelly and the books are completely useless and old. Ceilings have water stains. The residence halls are improving, but the staff can't be taken seriously, but living there is pretty awful. There are no TVs to watch the news or something in common areas on campus. Advertising is pathetic (when there are events…pretty seldomly) and things will stay on the walls weeks after the event ended. Advisors don't know wtf they are doing. If you want to graduate in 4 years, don't come here. Professors are unmotivated for the most part and don't always have their students interest at heart.

Goods-Since nobody has drive or motivation to do anything or get involved in any way, it is very easy to get leadership positions with no competition. This is especially true for anyone of a race other than white—Parkside loves to hire minority student-workers so that they can't be called racist. They'll even let minority workers get away with a lot just so they don't cause an uproar and get accused of racism.

Overall, if you are a minority who doesn't want to apply yourself but wants to seem like you are, this is the place for you! You can be rude and call anyone who wrongs you a racist in order to get what you want. If you want to be rude for no reason, you will find that there are many people like you here to be rude to! Don't want to give up your high school cattiness and bad attitude? Perfect!! Nobody else who attends here does, either.

In all serious do not come here if you want to succeed in classes or in the real world after college because you will not gain anything from this place other than a lot of debt. This is a school for people who do not know how to accept adulthood and want to only get by in life, not make something of it.
