This university is swirling the drain.?Many of the best faculty were retrenched, pushed into early retirement, or left on their own accord. The good ones who remain are now overworked and demoralized, and often very inaccessible as a result.

Class scheduling is inconvenient if you have a job, with the slashed faculty there are severely reduced options for certain required class sections. Students often only have one option per YEAR (not even per semester) to get into specific classes they want or need for a major. If you can get into that class, chances are its going to be 2-3 times bigger than it should, because they're trying to cram as many students per class as possible to maximize revenue.

It is such a shame because there used to be many brilliant, vibrant and very engaged faculty here, which made the place exceed my expectations when I first started. That has changed tremendously over the past year, as the administration chose to deal with a long-forseen fiscal crisis by gutting the faculty and staff rather than dip into reserves and tarnish their bond rating. Enrollment has plummeted following these highly publicized decisions, so more cuts should be expected in the future. The university's response is a hollow multi-million dollar rebranding and marketing campaign, while the quality of education rapidly crumbles from within. You can give a turd a nice shiny coat of paint but its still a turd. Look somewhere else if you have the option, or go to SMCC where it is cheaper.
