Avoid the Greek community as you would avoid an Ebola carrier. Avoid the frats and sororities as you would avoid the bubonic plague. Even if you are the only sane person in an insane environment, keep your cap and focus and move on. While I can't speak about other departments, the Economics faculty department should be regarded with a barrel of salt: take the harder professors and classes more in line with reality, everything else just ignore. The Political Science department is great though; plenty of networking opportunities and the faculty has both a career and academic mindset when advising students.
