Major: Psychology (This Major's Salary over time)
I love St. Thomas. I am a senior Psychology major living off campus. The larger student body is clique-y and full of rich white kids, but I have found more than one oasis of friendly, down-to-earth people (easier to find in the psyc department, perhaps). I don't know much about what it is like to be an international student or a minority at UST, so I can't speak to that. However, I found my experience to be stimulating and welcoming. The professors at UST are concerned with helping you learn. Philosophy and Theology classes are required, but they are not meant to drill specific ideas into your head; they have helped me instead to think critically about my life and beliefs and be able to look at information intelligently rather than to merely consume. You will not find many easy classes at St. Thomas, but as a person who came to college to learn, I am fully appreciative of that fact. The psychology department, where I spend most of my time, is phenomenal. Professors are excited to include you in research, they are encouraging and challenging, and they want to see you learn. You can tell they want to invest in you, and if you let them, you can learn so much. It's not just a program, it's a community down there in the bottom floor of JRC.

I live in the cities, and don't spend much of my social life on campus, but I love that area of St. Paul, and Minneapolis (my very favorite city) is right next door. If you decide to go to UST, go to Kopplin's on Marshall Ave. It's the best coffee around!
