Major: Communications (This Major's Salary over time)
I am a distance student at ODU. I transferred to ODU this year (spring 2015) from Liberty University, where I had already obtained an Associate of Art in Interdisciplinary Studies in 2014. Liberty didn't offer any bachelor programs that I was really interested in (I had already began my college career as a business major and hated it), so I spent quite a few months searching for an affordable school with a degree that I could really like.

My first experience with ODU was negative. They were extremely disorganized and sloppy with the whole application and admission process. One admissions representative, who I spoke to on the phone, sounded like a drunk college student - and he probably was. It took forever for my transcripts from my previous two colleges to be processed (Liberty and a local community college) - it took MONTHS. I ended up having to wait until summer before I could actually begin taking classes at ODU because the admissions process was so slow and they ran into countless problems.

On top of that, ODU didn't accept a majority of my general ed credits, so I am now having to taking several classes that I've already taken before (the class descriptions are identical between ODU and my previous schools - yet they don't transfer?) which is prolonging my graduation and forcing me to spend extra money.

Don't even get me started on some of the rude and incompetent professors at this university. They work for a university that isn't even on the top 100 list of colleges in the country and they act like they are better than everyone else. It takes forever for me to get a reply from them when I send an email, and I get the feeling that I'm just a number. There's not much help if you don't catch onto something. If you email most professors with a question because you don't understand the assignment, they will take their sweet time getting back to you, and by that time the assignment will be overdue and they don't accept ANY overdue assignments - regardless of the reason.

If it wasn't my last year, I would just transfer again and find another university. I try to be a positive individual and look for the good in things, but I find very little good in this university. They are sloppy, disorganized, condescending, not helpful at all, and THANK GOD I don't attend classes on the main campus because I'm constantly receiving emails about shootings and crime incidents near campus. Overall, I'm not impressed and I wish I would've chosen to go to a different university.
