I am currently a sophomore at Soka University of America. One of the things I like about Soka is the class size. We only have 12 students in one class on average. The small class size makes it easier for me to understand subject matter, to actively participate in class discussions, and to develop my critical thinking. In addition, most of the professors welcome students to utilize their office hours. I often visit professors to ask questions and to discuss my academic interests. Other than classes and professors, I appreciate the student community at Soka. We have only about 450 students. Because of this small community, it is easy to get to know others well. Friendships made at Soka have really helped me a lot especially when I struggle. Friends have encouraged me to keep studying hard and to get over difficulties. Sometimes my friends leave a small gift in front of my dorm-room door. I like the warm community at Soka University.
