Major: Other (This Major's Salary over time)
This school has all the pieces it needs to become better - unfortunately it suffers from a patently incompetent leadership with bizarre priorities. The school does not seem to prioritize the learning of its students: im a senior and am still taking useless courses that have nothing to do with my major. These courses are a waste of time, money, and energy, but i have no choice but to pour all three of these resources down the drain if i want to graduate. Teachers are hit and miss: some are good, some are bad, most are middling. For some reason, the academic/classroom culture here is stultifying and tepid. Most classes are filled with people who want nothing more than to leave, and as a result true classroom discussion is rare. The terrible food, which the school unironically touts as some of the best college food in north america (im not kidding) will sicken and weaken you. The cafeteria staff are composed entirely of the mentally disabled and petty convicts. As should be obvious, the service sucks: basics like milk, coffee, utensils, plates and cups are frequently in short supply, leaving hungry students frustrated and confused when they have to eat their cereal with a fork (true story, happens alarmingly often.) disciplinarily, the school is harsh but incompetent as ever. If youre caught smoking weed, drinking in dorms, etc., the college will levy a major fine against you, effectively extorting money from its own students. Its generally easy to avoid detection though, since college authorities are very dumb. But what truly sets this college apart as an incompetent institution is the dorms. Consider my dorm: infested with mice, roaches and mold, with a chronically leaking roof that the college claims is fixed, an elevator that was broken for a semester and a half (i lived for months on the sixth floor of a building with no elevator, making routine activities like laundry a major ordeal.) the bathrooms are disgusting, cleaned only a few times a week contrary to the college's claims.all this while the college spends hundreds of thousands of dollar to buy new, more exquisite stained glass windows for the useless chapel. In summation, this is a school that gives hardly a second thought to the needs, concerns, and wants of their students. Instead, this school treats its members like livestock, siphoning money from them in exchange for services that are performed poorly, if at all. The incompetence and greed of manhattan colleges asministration make it a bad place to learn and an even worse place to live.
