I am a first year Freshman Honestly I will say I am not liking UW for various reasons. The first reason is the admissions. It's so bullshit how UW gets people in here only the force them to compete to enter their intended. Like what's the point of admitting new students if many are never going to make it into the departments? Secondly this place is like freakin' Chinatown, no matter where you turn, Asians, Asians, Asians everywhere, UW is not even diverse, they accept mostly White, Southeast Asian, and Indians. I can't even enjoy anytime outside because it's always rainy. I honestly will say I regret going here and am now making plans to transfer somewhere else other than its campuses in Bothell or Tacoma. The campus is beautiful but seriously it's so disorganized and has some much flights of stairs to climb and so many hills to walk. If your an introvert and want to try and get out without all the party forget that! It's so hard finding the typical friends who just want to hang. All people do here is say hi and never speak to you again. It's so hard making friends here like literally it's so lonely that all I ever do is stay in my dorm. Unless you are native to Seattle or any cities nearby don't expect to make a lot of friends here, especially if you're from Tri-Cities or anywhere else in Eastern Washington. The classes here are also liberally unbiased and I feel unsafe here because of some RSOs seem radical. As for counseling, they are very friendly and will give you any type of advice. The problem is though is that the University is not very flexible with their policies or requirements (that's what gives it its prestige). The faculty is friendly and so are the TAs but the office hours are really limited and if your professor does not do Panopto or uses an overhead than it is very easy to fall off the course material. Dorms are very expensive especially for what they go for. I have looked at the apartments at UWB and UWT and they are about the same as a double in a North Campus dorm. I heard if you choose any dorm other than McMahon, or any of the apartments, it's much more easier to find friends and much more funner. The food is decent but there's too many cafes and to little restaurants with actual food other than pasta, or sandwiches. Honestly this is just my opinion though just make sure you enter this college at your own risk.
