I have only been here for one year, and it was very unsatisfactory . I don't see my self finishing my education here at all.Only a handful of teachers were helpful to me. While the rest either said I was not a good artist or just didn't. (mind you I have been selling art for years and making $100 off it every month, that is a lot for someone who doesn't sell to companies or go to social events where one buys art) Either way good or not I don't think belittling someone is a good way of critique. I have learned nothing from this school, other than how to deal with stress from all the useless work they throw in the students direction.

The location is not the best either. Yes it is the city, so already not expecting much, but their security is lacking for the dorms. Not the best day when you have to squeeze past an unknown man who is doing who knows what kind of drugs in front of the dorm doors.(but that's life right!? you have to deal with that I guess) I made complaints to them about health issues and food and they simply waved it off saying

it's a big city you'll find somewhere to eat

Mind you I am paying a crap ton for a food plan I don't even use. Yes they advertise that they are so good about adjusting their meals to the students but trust me that is not true.

They aren't the best at organization, in fact they are awful. I sat in the lobby for hours to get a room like every one else. I signed a contract, and to my surprise I don't have a room. WHY!? Because they didn't write it down in their floor plan how precious. Legally they need to call the other kid and say hey we messed up some one already owns that room, but nope. I got stuck in a triple (paying for a single, more expensive) with people I don't even know. Not that I mind living with others, I had a triple last year! I just want to be in a single so I can not get distracted and get my work done faster. I brought up mental issues to them and they just waved it off saying "MECA students tend to LIE to get out of work"(seriously belittling someone you don't even know based off other students!)brought my psychiatrist into it they still haven't gotten back to me.

Any way to sum it up: learning nothing. only a handful of good teachers(english, 3d, 2d, and digital are AMAZING. Illustration is the worst!). Unsafe environment(drunks every where, I have felt very unsafe walking back to the dorms). Very unorganized. and just overall no care about the students what so ever. I am paying too much money to be so screwed over, especially with the dorms. They have not enough living space for the students they are accepting. I am lucky I even got a room! so many of last years freshman do not, so if you are sending your kids here, just remember their second year they might not even have a dorm.
