My experience at this university has been nothing short of horrible. While my program and my graduate school department have been ok, everything outside of actually taking classes has been an absolute nightmare. I was a graduate assistant for my first year in the athletic department, which seemed like an excellent, cost-effective way to get both experience and pay for school, but boy was I wrong. I was locked in a room and told that I wasn't allowed to leave (even just to go to the bathroom), and only rarely would anyone I worked with come to speak to me. Often they would come into the room I was in to grab something and completely ignore me, no matter how hard I tried to say hello. I didn't gain any valuable experience whatsoever, and even told my supervisor that I was disappointed in my experience. She responded by telling me that there is only so much to learn and that, after that, you're done. Needless to say, when the opportunity for a part-time job opened up, I took it without a second thought and quit my GA immediately afterwards.

From there my experience did not get any better. Trying to work with university administrators to get in-state tuition, I was taken in circles from one person, who would tell me that there was no reason I shouldn't get it, to the next who would tell me that I had to speak to the Dean of the university because he was the only person who could explain to me why I didn't get it, to the Dean who has no way to even see my application, at which point the cycle started all over again. The people I spoke with were rude and unhelpful both to me and my mother-in-law, to the point that she has filed a complaint against at least one woman that both she and I had to speak with on the phone.

I live the campus, like my classmates, classes are ok, but everthing else has been so horrible that I came very close to dropping out with one year left in my degree. I advise you to run.
