Choosing BSU was a terrible mistake. I came from California and was looking for something new and completely different. Boise has potential. Nice campus and great athletics. It is so terribly boring though and the academics suck. If you are looking for the "college experience" DO NOT COME HERE!!!! Big parties dont exist, and when you do find a party, it is super boring (my high school parties were 110% better.) Greek life here is pathetic. There are no houses and they dont throw good parties, but it is a nice way to meet people. If you want any kind of social life, i highly recommend any other school. Most students commute and live nearby. there is also an unusually large number of old people that attend BSU which was super weird. Like i would have an uncomfortable amount of 30+ old people in lower level classes. A lot of students also come from TINY towns and they think boise is the craziest place on earth because they're used to their farmtown. and no offense but they're usually pretty weird people. I would not recommend this school if you come from a nice, city/urban area. The weather here also sucks. From October-March its cold, windy, and gray/cloudy. It makes you want to stay inside all the time. Classes here are super easy to the point where you feel ike you're unproductive and wasting your money. Education in idaho is ranked #50 in the US and most students come from idaho so they are super behind. If you come from out of state you will feel extremely smart. And while that sounds like it would be a good thing, it really doesnt feel great to never be challenged. This really just seems like this was just a school everyone settled for. Boise is a nice town with a cool downtown, but honestly the school has nothing to offer and its really a bummer. I will be transferring after this year (my sophomore year) and while i am happy to have made the most out of my time here, i could not be more excited to leave and find a better school.
