As I start my senior year, I want to share why I should have never attended Drake. Private colleges operate under their own set of rules and do whatever they want. You always feel like you are walking on egg shells in your interactions with others. Public/state colleges operate under state and federal laws. If there are any situations that private colleges don't like then you are dismissed even if it doesn't break a law. Several fellow students have been burned by this. Students don't think about this until they get into a sticky situation that could impact their college education. Don't be na?ve and think this would never happen to me since I know others have thought that and they are no longer here. These individuals have to start all over at another college which has a new set of requirements. Some new colleges may not accept you since Drake may have tarnished your record on the way out the door then college may not be an option going forward. I just wanted others to be aware of the burden of having this on your mind as you attend Drake. I don't want to say all private colleges are like this since it may just be Drake is worse than the rest.
