Major: Engineering Department (This Major's Salary over time)
While the department has made strides to improve its education of PhD students, you will encounter many barriers to success if you choose this program. If you receive funding for being a TA, you can expect 1) your class appointment to change multiple times with sometimes less than 3 weeks until the start of the term 2) Knowlton administrative staff HATE graduate students/adjuncts (but are super-nice to tenured faculty) so do not expect any help from them 3) do not bank on your monthly paycheck entering your account on time 4) if you need a Visa it will be jeopardized sometime during your time because the school does not file paperwork on time and 5) OSU's Graduate School department is quite possibly the worst in the country. Specifically, if you are an international student, you will likely be picked up by one of three veteran faculty members that will simply expect you to run all of their simulations / data analyses but will never actually mentor you, assist you with language immersion or help you adjust to life in the USA.
