The Music Therapy Program at Montclair is Understaffed and a Disaster if You Want To Practice in New York.

Cons:

a)They make you take a lot of undergrad prereqs if your BA is in another discipline, and I'm having to redo my internship because hours from Mclair were credited at the undergrad level. A DISASTER!

b)They gave me a hard time about transfering credits, it took forever and I didn't know until my last year what was up.

c)My advisor dicked around for 6 months, not knowing that credits older than 15 years weren't accepted.

My thesis sponsor was too busy when I was completing my thesis, and it went into another semester, ultimately taking a year and a half.

d)The head of the dept. at the time was losing it (mentally)and an old school mess.

e)Almost no one finished the program in the alloted 3 years(1 year undergrad prerequisites).

Pros: Good training for the profession if a not for the gargantuan amount of reading, summary, and writing. Come on people, it's music therapy! IT COST AS MUCH AS NYU!!!IF YOUR OUT_OF_STATE.
